Winchester Mystery House. The Winchester Mystery House in Santa Clara is a stately Victorian mansion shrouded in unanswered questions. In 1884, Winchester rifle heiress Sarah Winchester initiated construction of the 160-room mansion that would keep contractors and builders occupied until Ms. Winchester’s death 38 years later.
