Stanford University

Located on a beautiful sprawling campus in Palo Alto, in the heart of Silicon Valley, Stanford University is one of the world's most elite research and teaching universities. Stanford is a private university that comprises seven schools, including Humanities and Sciences and Earth Sciences as well as professional schools of Business, Education, Engineering, Law, and Medicine. Stanford's renowned athletics department competes in 34 varsity sports and has been the launching point for many Olympians and professional athletes.

Campus Walking Tours

Spend an hour with a student guide exploring Stanford’s beautiful campus. Departing from the Stanford Visitor Center, the tour takes you to the Main Quad, Memorial Church, Science & Engineering Quad and White Plaza. A great introduction for visitors and tourists, the 70-minute Campus Walking Tour is free. Stanford also offers a one-hour Golf Cart Tour ($5 per person) and group tours by reservation.

Are there activities or events for non-students?

Yes. Stanford is a vibrant cultural destination in the Bay Area with music, dance, theater, arts and sports events and activities for visitors and locals. The Cantor Arts Center features art collections, exhibitions, and programs throughout the year, and Stanford Live presents exciting concerts and live music performances in Bing Concert Hall. Enjoy Stanford Cardinals football games at Stanford Stadium and basketball games at Maples Pavilion. Tee off at Stanford Golf Course, or enjoy shopping and dining throughout the campus.

Where can I park at Stanford University?

Visitor parking is available near the Visitor Center and many convenient locations across campus, including the Visitor Center Lot and Varsity Lot. Visitor parking has either a coin meter at the parking space or a permit vending machine located in the parking lot that will also accept credit cards.
